Growing up in the Shenandoah Valley, Brian found himself on trails from an early age. Going through Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and finishing as an Eagle Scout, Brian has spent more nights outdoors camping and backpacking than he has indoors and that’s the way he’s going to keep it. Having once worked consulting in the Environmental Engineering realm, Brian left to start an environmental nonprofit called Keep Virginia Cozy. Their mission is to protect wilderness and inspire all Virginians to care for our wild places. They contribute to better protection, stewardship and restoration of our public lands, preserving our rich natural legacy for current and future generations.
Each Tuesday, Earth Day through October, you can join Keep Virginia Cozy for their “Trashy Tuesday” campaign. Each week rotates through different parks and neighborhoods, removing litter and recycling, making new friends, and closing out each Tuesday with drinks on the patio of Väsen! Come see how good it feels to give back to the areas we all enjoy!
Be kind. Smile at strangers. Pick up litter. Protect our public lands. Keep Virginia Cozy.
Keep Virginia Cozy would like to recognize photographer Lindsay Kagalis (@lindsaykagalisphotography) for providing all of their website and social media photos as well as local designer Caitlin Olszewski (@thedesignpunk) for providing branding and design work. Both are using their gifts to bring awareness to the protection of public lands!
